GUT. What’s a girl to do? REMOVE.

Three posts on GUT.  I am not a doctor, nor do I play on on TV.  I just know that healing my gut allowed me to find greater health and wellness than I had ever conceived of.  I am off of SIX prescription meds, have lost anywhere from 60-80 pounds (depending on the month, ha!) and am happy, present, sober, and productive.  This was not the case for much of my 46 years.

Gut 1.  What is it?

Gut 2.  Is my gut the cause of my sickness?  (probably)

Gut 3.  Why is my gut leaky and broken?

In my journey, there are lots of steps.  Literally and figuratively.  Lots of trip ups and faceplants, and the path is never linear.

BUT, step one to healing (for me) has been to REMOVE.  Take away.  Get rid of the toxic.  Get rid of the shit.  Ditch it.  Break up with it.  Eliminate it.

Shit that’s gone:

  • Diet Dr. Thunder
  • Processed foods
  • Sugar
  • TV/Cable
  • Gluten
  • Toxic household products
  • Toxic beauty/body products
  • Booze
  • ALL animal products (I go back and forth with vegan/vegetarian/and consuming animal flesh)  still dialing in what works for my body.
  • Grains  (there are varying schools of thought here, you do you, I do better with no grains, I do quinoa, which is technically a seed)
  • Beans/Legumes (I tried it for 30 days, and felt terrible, so they’re back in)
  • Toxic relationships (yes, there are a few people who are out, others who have been severely limited)
  • Coffee (this is due to adrenal fatigue, and not necessary for EVERY person)

Wow, that’s a lot.  And it hasn’t been perfect.  And some “stuff” is still being dialed in.  That being said, ONE thing is just truth:

Sugar.  Is.  Evil.

It makes you old, tired, fat, sick, leaky, and stupid.

Step one.  Get rid of sugar.  This will probably eliminate most processed foods, as they contain sugar.  Lots and lots of sugar.  And big FOOD is sneaky.  61 different names for sugar.  And since ingredients must be listed in order by weight, big FOOD will label the sugar in their products 3 or 4 different ways so it doesn’t appear as if their product is full o the white stuff.

Light and Love,

Big Laura
